Note- I went to a British-type school for five years, so sometimes I call Mom 'Mum'. I use them interchangeably. I hope that's the only time I have to mention that.
MOM = MUM. IT'S THE SAME THING.
So Mum one day came up with this super genius phrase and I figured some people might not totally agree. And I'll admit, at first, it took me a while to come to terms with it. Now I'm all for it.
1) Checks and Balances run the great United States of America and keeps us, well, united.

2) Every story has three sides. I'll tell you why.
Once my sister and I got into a fight. She stabbed my eye with a pencil. I hit her arm because she stabbed my eye with a pencil. Sister tells parents that I hit her and she starts bawling. I tell them she stabbed my eye with a PENCIL.

My parents didn't seem to understand that I had been stabbed. Whatever. I'm over it now. (I'm also over that blue bandana with the fake braids that I used to wear all the time when I was a kid).
They took her side. She was the baby of the family then. And she was the one crying, not me. I don't know why I didn't cry. I guess the pencil didn't really hurt me, but it did definitely touch my eye. Or near there. I don't really remember anymore.
Point is, there are three sides to every story. In this case, there was my side, my sister's side, and then there was the truth.
3) My parents gave birth to three girls.
4) (This is one of my favorite reasons.) The saying goes that it takes two to tango. BUT THAT'S NOT TRUE. You can't dance without the TANGO TEACHER. So, two people + tango teacher = ready to tango.
5) When you're strolling through life and come to a crossroads, it never just consists of a left and right turn. You can also go straight. Duh.
6) The square is made up of two triangles. So is the rectangle.

7) The Love Triangle. Need I say more?
